On May 18, 1927, shortly after the start of the school day, an explosion ripped through the Bath Consolidated School building. Almost half of the structure collapsed, killing and injuring students and staff. Residents from Bath and nearby areas rushed to the school to provide aid to the victims. What began as a routine and peaceful day ended as one of the most horrific days ever on American soil. The aftermath of the bombing left 43 dead, including 38 students, 4 staff members, and one bystander.
